Primary and elementary students in Newfoundland and Labrador will benefit from an expanded version of the ”I Can Too!” program thanks to a generous contribution from
Husky Energy.

Delivered by Easter Seals NL, the “I Can Too!” program sends the message that persons with disabilities can do everything from socializing and skiing to bull-riding and
a silly belly dance; they just might have to do it in a different way!

“We focus our community investment support on programs which help build stronger communities,” said Malcolm Maclean, Husky’s Senior Vice President, Atlantic Region.

“This program will now be able to share its important message about diversity and inclusion with more children across the province.”

The program currently consists of six dolls with a wide range of adaptive equipment, a video called “Kids Just Wanna Have Fun” and age appropriate storybooks such as Robert Munch’s Zoom and, for older readers, I’m Wendy Blair, Not a Chair by Carolyn Mcdiarmaid.

With a funding commitment of $100,000 from Husky, the program will grow to include further outreach to areas such as the West Coast and Labrador, new dolls and a leavebehind project that will bring disability into the classroom!

“Husky has been a key supporter of Easter Seals NL for quite some time,” said Mark Bradbury, CEO, Easter Seals NL. “From helping to establish Husky Energy Easter Seals House to helping us broaden our reach, Husky is committed to supporting
people in our province with disabilities.”
